About myselfWho am I? I am a fully qualified family therapist based in Lewes, and have been registered with the UKCP since 1997. Prior to practising as a therapist I worked as a mental health nurse for 10 years in London and in Sussex. I achieved my Certificate of Family Therapy from the Institute of Family Therapy in 1992, and my Diploma of Systemic Psychotherapy from Kensington Consultation Centre in 1994. I have practised as a family therapist in a wide variety of settings including private practice, schools, and the NHS since 1996. I have full indemnity insurance and adhere to the ethical standards of practice as established by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am also a member of the Association for Family Therapy. How I work Usually a session lasts one to one and a half hours. One might have 3 - 6 sessions at fortnightly or monthly intervals, and then review. Alternatively a single session might be enough to make a difference. Sessions take place in my consulting room in Lewes. I usually want to meet with the whole family first, but may also work with people on an individual basis, or suggest individual sessions within a series of family meetings. My therapeutic style incorporates questions and conversation to explore your situation, as well as play therapy techniques when appropriate. |
